The Importance of being Earnest: To One’s Self

Published by jessies1025 at 12:31 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Why do people spend endless amounts of money on frivolous attempts to solve a serious problem? In the United States we are bombarded with the statistics which show that obesity in this country is becoming an outstanding problem; yet is it obesity which is the growing problem, or the overwhelming lack of personal self interest circulating and growing exponentially within each nascent generation.
It seems as though American’s today fear change in routine and lack self discipline. The marketing world has caught on to America’s flaws, and once again has begun to use naiveté within the individual to exploit the weakness of society. It stems from societies view on beauty and appealing characteristics; among them a slender frame is desired. Yet, we also have people, who in our technically advanced age, believe that everything can be “fixed” or, “mended” with minimal effort. Here is where the problem is sourced: people waste vast amounts of money on the advice of those who are only taking the most basic of weight loss strategies and turning them into a guaranteed “no fail” marketing scam. Programs such as South Beach, Atkins, and countless others only thrive on those who are desperate for an answer which they essentially are in denial of already knowing. The basic point of losing weight is effort, and without putting in some form of change with sacrifice, the benefits will not be reaped.
Unfortunately, not only are those who are severely overweight pushed to being extremely ostracized, but what was once considered normal is now becoming the new overweight. Discipline is being pushed to a higher level when seemingly normal people begin to strive for complete malnutrition. It amazes me personally that in other countries around the world people die of undernourishment everyday yet in this country we are divided by a society filled with extremists who take for granted our countries ability for stability. We have those who are so glutinous they are unable to control themselves and feed money into scams which provide common sense solution which remain fruitless without the necessary motivated ambition for restriction and resolution; and on the other side we have those who feel that looking as emaciated as possible is some status of accomplishment within society. As extreme as it sounds, is it any wonder we are seen all over the world as the designated “bad guy?” As cliché as it may sound, it is important for people to take for granted the health opportunities and benefits we are given within this country. We have advancement as well as knowledge over many countries within the world. Does this give us the right to waste our health in a solution to end frustrations within a society which we essentially created ourselves? I say wake up America! Realize that egocentrism is only giving us chafing thighs and heart problems. You are only given one life, one body, and one mind; don’t waste time and energy looking for the answer to self image problems within other people, look within yourself to find what image of yourself makes you happy. Society is an inevitable system, yet you are your own master; therefore capable of making your own decisions I say decide to find what motivates you to gain the utmost quality which can be derrived from your own life.
